"The evolving role of the marketer in the Pharma industry"
There is a clear evolution toward entirely new forms of organization for conducting business in the global marketplace and it requires a reconceptualization of the role of the marketing function within the organization.
Clearly, evolving organization forms, emphasizing flexibility in responding to changing customer needs, create new definitions of marketing's role and responsibilities. These new responsibilities differ at the corporate, business, and operating levels. In each instance, the new emphasis on long-term relationships and ongoing assessment of which functions and activities to purchase, to perform internally, or to engage in with a strategic partner creates new dimensions to the marketing task.
In this changing environment, what is the actual role of the local marketer in the Pharma industry?
Eva Lauwers will guide us through. She started her career in sales and marketing and is actually HR Director at Pfizer.
Eva Lauwers started her career after having obtained her degree of Clinical Psychologist, as Medical Representative, while studying Marketing at the ICHEC in the evenings. She held roles with increasing responsiblities in marketing for different pharmaceutical companies before se joined Pfizer in 2000 as BU Director Cardiology. When the BU structure changed into a functional structure, she became Marketing Director. Exactly 4 years ago, she had the opportunity to become the HR Director.
